Gangrene of the Right Leg Consequent on Pott's Fracture; Amputation at Lower Third of Thigh; Tetanus: Recovery

On the evening of the 13th July, Ashraf Beg, Musalman, aged 30 years, was admitted into hospital: twelve days before he fell from a mango tree and sustained Pott's fracture of the right ankle, was taken into the Mohuindi Branch Dispensary, but mortification setting in was sent into the Sadr; on arrival lie was in very low condition through fatigue and want of food; the right leg from the toes to the tuberosity of the tibia was one black mass of gangrene; on tne following morning amputation at the lower third of the thigh by anterior and posterior flaps was performed; three vessels were tied and the flaps brought together with iron-wire sutures: very little blood was lost, the soft parts looked healthy, the medullary matter of the
